I am fascinated by the invisible line people draw between what's possible or impossible. As a coach, consultant, and a mom, I am aware that most of us draw these lines, then think we can't cross them: "This is possible, but that is not; I can go this far, but no farther." I am also aware that helping someone imagine or talk about the line can stretch a person's view of what's possible an incredible distance.
I think we as humans have drawn an invisible line that tells us it's impossible to end world suffering -- but it's a line that can be stretched and crossed by individuals, by groups, by large companies, by countries, by whole continents, and by the entire globe. Actually, I think it's already happening, and I want to help.
I first started imagining HumanKindMedia as I was coming out of breast cancer treatment. I decided that if it ever became the case that I only had a few years left, I wanted to know I was spending them doing something huge and impossible. I decided this is the perfect time to create a voice in the media that talks about crossing the line from impossible to possible, that talks seriously and hopefully and consistently about the possibility of healing the world. My friend Liz helped me get started and still comes back once in awhile to write a piece.
It's already working. As soon as we began this project, we found amazing people, organizations, and even other media outlets already aligned with us in our goal. Our mission is to get more of these voices out there -- and get more people around the world imagining possibilities.
My own intention is to create a little piece of this media about possibility every day or every week, and to make a gazillion more friends who would love to use their aspirations and talents and resources to see what's possible.
Outside the blogosphere, I'm a wife, a mother of two teenagers, and a dog and cat "sponsor"(my husband's joke about pets). I'm an MBA, professional coach, consultant, writer, friend, daughter, baseball fan (Go A's), philanthropist, world citizen, and a hope-filled member of humankind. I welcome you.
